Professional Experience
Extensive experience in outpatient Behavioral Health; provide Critical Incident Stress Management/Debriefings; provide services to professionals/caregivers who experience burnout and/or secondary traumatic stress; provide services to Employee Assistance Programs; diversified responsibilities in program development, training and seminars; Mental Health Consultant to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Corp. of Engineers; School Psychologist in an international environment. Provides parent coordination, a new program to help divorced, or unmarried parents cooperate on decisions affecting their children.


1989-Present: Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Self employed clinical psychotherapist in an outpatient practice. Provide therapy to individuals, groups, marriage, and families.  Areas of specialization include: depression; anxiety and panic disorders; adjustment disorders; loss and mourning issues; work related issues; unresolved issues resulting from childhood physical, emotional and sexual abuse; provide individual/group debriefings to those who have witnessed or were involved in a critical incident context.  Extensive experience working with the military and their families.  Experience working with Managed Care Organizations, and Employee Assistance Programs.  Developed Utilization Review, and Quality Assurance policies and procedures.


1986-1989:  Clinical Psychotherapist in a County Mental Health Center
Knowledgeable in all phases of mental health services, care and delivery. Clinical caseload included individual/group therapy with children, adolescents, adults and the chronically mentally ill. Emphasis on treating victims of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.  Participated as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team to identify the needs and problem areas of the client and the dynamics of the case, developed long/short-term goals and objectives for treatment plans. Acted as a consultant to Special Needs students for Okaloosa County School System (elementary, middle, and senior high schools). 


1985-1986: District Intake Counselor - Division of Youth and Family Services 
Provided counseling treatment planning and appropriate referrals for youth and families in Okaloosa County who were experiencing difficulties in the home and school system.  Responded to requests for assistance with ungovernable children and their families. Filed petitions, court orders, motions for summons and subpoenas in relation to court cases. Prepared predispositional reports for juvenile court and dependency hearings to present cases. Conducted seminars and parenting classes. 


1982-1984: School Psychologist - Riyadh International Community School
Coordinator of the Resource Program, Gifted Program and English as a Second Language Program. Provided individual/group counseling to students, families, and staff; actively involved in parent/teacher consultations; developed and implemented behavior modification programs in the classroom and home; observed classroom and play activity; administered and evaluated tests to identify learning and social problems. Participated on Accreditation Committees for Pupil Services and School Philosophy.


1980-1984: Primary Mental Health Consultant to the U.S. Military Training Mission in the Middle East
Primary Mental Health Consultant to the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Corp. of Engineers. Provided short and long-term psychotherapy and assessments to active duty personnel and military families.  Provided assessment, stabilization, and counseling to Western families and Independent businesses residing in an international environment.  Participated as a team member to assist the U.S. Embassy in the development of an outpatient Mental Health Program; provided career workshops for men/women in career transition.  


1979-1980:  Vocational Counselor
Developed a vocational rehabilitation program for the mentally handicapped (ages 14-30) tailored to the needs of the community and individual capabilities. Monitored and evaluated program effectiveness. Counseled clients throughout the rehabilitation program to overcome social and emotional problems.


1979: CETA Manpower Consortium - Program Director/Supervisor
Designed and implemented a comprehensive labor market orientation program for seven hundred disadvantaged youths in a tri-county community.  Provided training for the staff, conducted a county-wide survey with participants; established learning objectives; developed workshops, and provided career counseling.


1973-1974: Director of Volunteer Organization - Little Rock Air Force Base
Directed and coordinated a woman's volunteer organization (1,200 membership).  Successfully motivated members to participate in community outreach programs.  Organized a senior citizen telephone reassurance program.  Nominee for military wife of the year.


1970-1972: Director of American Red Cross Volunteer Program - Clark Air Force Base, Philippines
Recruited, selected, conducted orientations, arranged on-the-job training with hospital personnel, and placed five hundred volunteers in community agencies.  Developed and implemented a community wide outreach program between American and Philippine youth; maintained records and evaluated program effectiveness.
